E&G’s academic Director, Shane Paul Baula
I am Shane Paul Baula, a person highly ambitious for worldly wealth, success, and glory. Being a good organizer, I have the faculty to dissent both parties. I always give my best when given responsibility, and I can shoulder it successfully. Being patient and persistent, I employ concentrated effort and skill manoeuvring to overcome insurmountable obstacle. With these, I am convinced that I am living with what is expected from me. 7 years of service in this institution gives good reputation and allows me to render unparalleled customer-oriented service. After 3 years of being an ESL teacher, I was promoted as one of the head teachers. Having been promoted to that position, I continue and pursue my commitment in rendering good service by giving advice to my colleagues and also by being a team-leader, I lead my colleagues to achieve our goal in rendering good quality of education to our patrons. Fortunately, I was again promoted to a higher position, Academic Director of the institution. As the academic director, I ensure the quality of service, which is expected from them, that my teachers are giving to their students as well as ensuring that the students receive the quality of service education they are entitled to receive.
E&G’s level test system and class assignment
In our school, we conduct our initial level test for the new students by administering CEFR based test (a test widely used internationally). There are 5 sets of test and each set of test isdivided into 4 macro skills. Students need to answer Grammar, Listening, Writing,Speaking and Reading for 3 hours. With this exam, we are able to assess each student’s level objectively. After the exam and before assigning their individual class schedule, I take time to interview them one-by-one. The purpose of the interview is to know the student’s purpose, goal, and interest. In this way, I can assign the appropriate class that suits the students need and interest. Consequently, classes and books corresponding to their level will be designated. Having this process, assigning books and classes, is not difficult for me because our classes and books are already well classified by our levelling system.
Monthly Evaluation Test
All students are required to take monthly evaluation test once a month except to those who take the initial evaluation test within 2 weeks from the monthly test date and those who will leave on the same week when the test falls. After test results are released, I have the consultation with students who need to level up their group classes.
Procedure for change of classes
The students have the option to change their class(es). If they want to change their class, they have to submit a class-change request and must be submitted to me by Thursday morning. After receiving the request, I will then have a consultation with the student about his request and his desire of changing a class. During the consultation, I give them advice as to their needs and wants. After the consultation, I will change the student’s schedule in respect to his request and the availability of the class. Now that the consultation and requests are granted, Schedule will be posted on Friday afternoon and will take effect on Monday, the following week.
Mandatory self study
After students finish regular classes, they are supposed to have Mandatory self study from 7pm to 10pm. Everyday attendance to self study is a MUST because it is ‘mandatory’. During this timeVocabulary materials such as Academic Word List, TOEIC VOCA, THE VOCABULARY TOP 1000 and others are provided to studentsandweekly VOCA test is done every Friday and students who fail the test are grounded for 1day in the weekend.
Attendance Management
Every hour, the person in charge is supposed to take attendance of all students and any student who’s absent is reported to OFFICE immediately. Absences can be excused by informing the OFFICE of unavoidable reasons in advance or obtaining expost facto approval. If not, all unexcused absences are considered asinvalid absences and are to subject to penalties such asbeing grounded for the upcoming weekend and written warnings or expulsion.

Teacher Cai, as known by everyone as a short, witty and intelligent teacher, is one of the best teachers in E&G. with the character and personality that she possess, students easily get hook and feel comfortable with her. Not to mention that her English skills and knowledge gained her so much respects from her students not only young but also adult learners. She manages to carry on with her classes in spite of having array of students. With her dedication, she never stops learning and later on ingests it to the innocent and eager mind of the students. Actually teacher Cai is fond of giving challenges to her students for she know that it’s for them. Aside from that, she always thinks outside the box, so she always thinks of activities not limited to the stuents capacity in order for the students to avoid boredom. Lastly, she always exhausts all options for her students’ learning.
Teacher Vann, as I can see her charming appearance, I can easily say that she has got not only just the charm that attracts her students to listen and be interested in her class but also the expertise in teaching and of course her exceptional command in English tha serves as her ultimate weapon in teaching. She is liked by her students for the fact she manages to maintain her goals for her students while having fun. She firmly thinks that the learning process will be more effective if fun is being incorporated. She defines fun as an engagement, doing and learning that has meaning and purpose, and it means being challenged. Embracing this belief should have a profound effect on what and how she teaches.
About Homework
(ESL) To further enhance the student’s writing skill, numerous writing activities are necessary. A variety of topics is first given to the students to be used for the writing activities. The topics range from simple ones such as writing about the student’s daily life to more complicated ones such as opinionated topics. In addition to this, the student can also freely select the topic for his writing. By doing so, the student is able to discuss a wider range of topics according to his own interests.
(TOEIC) For TOEIC Reading comprehension, good analytical skill is imperative to achieve high score test result. To further the student’s skill, a follow-up reading exercise is used by teacher as the most suitable approach. For instance, Reading double passage with a limited time. There are four questions based on the reading. This will enhance the learner’s speed in reading as well as retain his learning in vocabulary. Most importantly, constant practice in reading exercise and Q&A increases the level of comprehension.

The first month I had a class with Henry, honestly it was hard for me as well as for him in the aspect of communicating to each other. I observed that he has difficulty asking questions because he didn’t know how to say or what to say. He was lacking up vocabulary before that is why it pushed me to give him some common words he could use in daily conversation before going through our normal discussion. Aside from that, his pronunciation is really terrible. It was difficult for me to understand what he was saying, not only me but also his other teachers, but on a brighter note, Henry tried to write down his ideas if he couldn’t express it through speaking and from that, I could understand what he wants to convey. I can also see that he is giving his full effort in order for him to be understood by others and able to communicate with other students and other teachers.
As for now, honestly speaking, he has improved and has been improving since the day he started his classes. If I compare his performance before to know, I will definitely say that he is far better than before since he is able to express his idea and has the ability to be understood by others not that easy but much better than before and also he can even crack a joke nowadays. For those reasons, it is just an indication how he improved.
